I would suggest seeing your doc just as a precaution.
I am told that occasionally people who drank large amounts and did so daily it could stretch out for a longer time. You want to get checked out by a pro. This seems to my like something more that your regular, run-of-mill withdrawal.
You can take an anti histamine to slow down your autonomic nervous system if you cannot go to the doctor. You can also take herbs like Valerian or even Kava.
However, if you are having something more than withdrawal, you may not want to mask the symptoms.
If you call the ER they are probably going to tell you to come in.
If you have insurance go. If no insurance go to a mental health crisis center. If you are just in withdrawal you don't want a huge bill, but if it is more than withdrawal you don't want to die.
Alcohol withdrawal can kill. That is rare, but it is a fact. It isn't just overreacting by some histrionic weenie in rehab.
There are so many possible physiological causes for your shakes that seeing a doctor is best. It may be as simple as the cold as you say, but listening to one's body is important. IMO
