Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
That's what this alcoholic had to do, to get to the other side called recovery.
Grateful today I know what the true meaning is today for a person like me.
I "surrendered"
...after a 3 (or was it 5) day binge following a 3 week binge where I popped a bottle of pills, broke a bunch of stuff, and had the worst detox of my life. I realized I could have died and hubby would have arrived home a week later to find me.
...The paradox is that I drank again 10 days later despite the realization 2 weeks prior. My true "surrender" therefore occurred (God help me) after this last binge upon realizing that I was playing Russian roulette every time I drank. The morning after and at the mtgs I have attended since, I am truly, utterly humbled by my illness.
Positive thinking, believing. I AM doing things differently this time. I surrender.
Never thought of it that way...Thanks
