Today I read a thread about the 'pink cloud' well let me tell you it's pouring rain in my head. I am 18 days sober today. On my long commute home from work a terrible thought kept recurring.

I used to GO HOME! CRACK A COLD ONE! MAKE DINNER! START LAUNDRY! HAVE ANOTHER COLD ONE! CLEAN UP DINNER! WOW IS THAT ANOTHER COLD ONE? YEAH! DO SOME MORE LAUNDRY.

Now its, go home make dinner *sigh* start laundry *eh* etc. etc. etc. *bleh*.......

Luckily for my sobriety it is miserable weather here or I would be sorely tempted. I almost feel sorry that I took the first step.

Please tell me it will get better soon! Another weekend (which I used to love the Friday whistle!) looms drearily ahead.

i can tell you what they told me, it takes what it takes.There is no quick fix just alot of work that pays off down the road. so hang in there.

I know where you're coming from, but for most the mundane is better than the excitement we got toward the end of our drinking. My excitement was drinking, sleeping, drinking, puking, drinking, apologizing, drinking, driving drunk, calling someone to come and get me and drinking somemore.

That kinda excitement I can do without.

Hun you are stronger then you think...dont give up because all the pain you are going through will be worth it, you will see it and be so happy that you didnt give up. hang in there hun.

i cant tell when or even soon, that it will get better. but i can say IT WILL GET BETTER! theres no doubt about that, if u dont drink, it WIL get better. try not to worry about days that r not here yet, ok? only about the day @ hand!

I don't know if you're in to AA but they stress service to others as part of our recovery. Typically, they mean service to other alcoholics but I have extended the definition to include my family. The things I do for them are a type of service work. In my mind that helps take out some of the drudgery out of it.

It DOES get better. My hardest was the first month of the habitual thinking, "Tonight, I drink."
(Which was almost every night.)
Once I got past that, it was pretty smooth sailing.
Nothing beats the proudness you get from accomplishing this. NOTHING compares.
