Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. Do we need to go through the steps with a sponser? Is that a requirement? I kinda went through the steps on my own after reading the book, the 12 steps, for anyone who really wants them which was the aa steps adapted for EHA (Emotional Health anonymous.
When I had questions or wanted to talk more about something, I phoned my AA sponser who has been free from drugs and alcohol for over 5 years now.
My sponser keeps telling me I didn't do the steps according to the big book and that I need to go though them with him and it will take about 16 weeks. I keep putting him off nicely because I just don't have the time.
I haven't drank in over 3 years but am I doing anything wrong?.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep.
