sponsee is still alive....he had gotten suicidal..

checked himself into psych ward of hospital and just got out today....he texted me first and I called his mom....texted my friend who is in his inner circle....I also texted him with no other anything....all he told me was he changed his appointment with the burn doctor.....not one word about anything else....I found out from friend in his inner circle about the psych ward and the suicidal thinking....his mom called back later I had left vm....she had just gotten done with the police as she had a missing persons with him....she is so stressed out....other son died of OD in her house....she does not want to lose her 2nd son....but his life is crazy as bat shit.....he is homeless again..just got text from him...he is still sober....he wants me to pick him up tomorrow 10am....so I will...


want to get him help in order to get him into a shelter living facility of some type....

he is obviously struggling and in a bad place, he needs your ongoing support & for people to not give up on him. The hopelessness he feels must be incredibly overwhelming, everything for him is spiraling out of control & imagine he feels he has nothing left to live for. Keep reaching out, you may be the only person besides his mum that hasn't given up on him. He is going from crisis to crisis, and needs to find the right place where he can stop and accept the help and start to rebuild his life. Hope today is a better day for him !

You seem like the kind of sponsor that I had a long time ago when he was gossiping too. I hope like hell that he doesn't happen to come across these posts of yours. Your frigging putting his whole life out there for everyone to see. Try some confidentiality and focus on your own recovery. All the best. James

Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between gossip and genuinely asking for advice but it seemed to me like billwfriend was just concerned and looking for feedback and support.

He didn't share any personal details and didn't seem to be passing judgment...I don't see the issue.

I don't see this as gossiping in any shape or form to be honest, Bill is sharing a story as we all do in this group, no names are mentioned and it is a reminder of what can happen when we drink & maybe by reading this, someone here will not pick up that first drink.

It is an incredibly sad story of what this guy is going through, and Bill has been supporting him as a sponsor and someone that genuinely cares.

This group is a safe, supportive place to share our journey and our stories, and because I have been able to do that, I am one year sober - without this group, that would never have happened.

Thy will, not mine, be done.

    I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the  male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident.  I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good.  They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...
