Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Every sponsor is necessarily a leader.
The stakes are huge.
A human life, and usually the happiness of a whole family,
hangs in the balance.
What the sponsor does and says,
how well he estimates the reactions of his prospects,
how well he times and makes his presentation,
how well he handles criticisms,
and how well he leads his prospect on
by personal spiritual example ...
well, these attributes of leadership
can make all the difference,
often the difference between life and death.
Thank God that Alcoholics Anonymous is blessed
with so much leadership in each and all of its great affairs!

Seriously, I saw compassion, honesty, strength & humanity in the person I chose to be my sponsor. (apparently I didn't ask properly..hee hee) And those are qualities I wanted to possess.
I can't tell you how many times I have been pissed off and bitchin about something or someone and my sponsor will listen then calmly ask a question and I'll say "DAAAAAMN!!!! I never even thought of it that way!"
I have learned and continue to learn so much from my sponsor, they are wonderful creatures and I thank God for mine!
If ya aint got one, I encourage you to do so. Makes all the difference in the world, at least it did for me.
Just going to meetings wasn't enough to get/keep me sober.
Sponsor/Steps/God (yes I know I should say HP but....) are what has helped me to change my life for the better.
I think they are right to be scared, and some shouldn't ever sponsor someone. Why? Because they've never worked the program.
I don't think you have to be a leader to sponsor, you have to have worked the steps. What hangs in the balance is not on my shoulders as a sponsor. I will GLADLY share what was been shared with me, but the result is up to the sponsee.
AA is blessed. That is for sure, but not all if it is.
I love AA. I absolutely love the first 53 pages of the BB, because that is how far I have been taught, working with my sponsor. I anticipate loving the remaining pages. Let's make sure we are carrying THE MESSAGE to those who still suffer.

Sponsors still need encouragement, accountability and prayer too, as we're all stil a work in progress For those who are feeling unsure of themselves, I'd encourage you to speak to your sponsor. For me, I trust in my HP to guide me. I'm not the leader when sponsoring, my HP and that of my sponsee is the true leader.
Why is it that just everyone I almost choose as a sponsor falls off the face of the earth after each time I have slipped. I seriously think I am scaring them away.
"Find someone that has something you want." ...Simple.
That was my goal last week and is my goal again this week. Hopefully, it won't be my goal again next week.
