Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
On a more serious note for the people that are struggling from this fatal disease, stay in the moment & always remember there is a solution.
"When AA was very young, a group envisaged the concept of a grand scheme to advance AA into all kinds of social activities. To ensure foolproof, continuous operation, 61 rules and regulations were adopted. After a lot of work and money (other peoples) the wheels fell off and they had to humbly admit that they were on the wrong track.
Then they did something that was an AA classic. It all went on a little card, about the size of a goal score card. The cover read, "Middletown Group #1, rule #62." When the card was unfolded, on the other side, a simple pungent sentence read, "Don't take yourself too damn seriously."
My whole life rested on how i could live up to my expectations, keep everyone in check, "Because i knew What was right for them.....Taking ludicrous, ideas that made me feel safe And running o with them...I failed miserably at having any Control over Me or ...Or pretty much any Rigid set of rules. I've relied on. Whether I was drunk or Sober always Left claws marks on everything ,especially....Somebody, needing to play god In others lives...That was me all in the name of order and Safety...You know i was raised in a very volatile family, Safety is very important to a child.

Sometimes, even when things are total shit, humor (even dark humor) can take, just for a moment atleast, the weight of the world off my shoulders. The only humor that is not funny to me is when it is making fun of someone with disabilities and other down and out folks. But even then-if they can get a laugh out of it too-then it is all good.
I am learning to grab ahold of this when my kids are being difficult. I ususally scream and throw a hissy fitwhen they are out of control, and I wind up being out of control too. I haven't been that way for the last several days or so. I am still learning about that area. Working with others sure does help.
