Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Detoxing from alcohol is stressful enough. To add more stress by stopping nicotine at the same time is setting the alcoholic up for relapse of both. It's common sense.
Most alcoholics who sober up eventually quit nicotine down the road anyway.
I've never heard or seen anybody who relapsed on alcohol because they continued smoking. I've also never read anything to that effect.
Sorry rivalino, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I to have never heard anyone say they relapsed because of continueing with nicotine but how would they know Thats why sciantists do research isnt it
Ah well, opinions like a-holes like they say - everyone has them! Some people get them published in scientific journals he he :))

As a girl, I did have an eating disorder and when I drank, even as an adult, it would sometimes rear its ugly head. Even when I didnt act on it, the cravings were an issue.
When I got into recovery, it too went away. I occasionally get a craving to indulge in self destructive behaviour but without booze to lower my inhibitions, and to basically tell me "to hell with it go for it" its not a problem.
For the sake of my children, I am so glad I quit though!

Quit smoking-gotta say that no matter if you stay sober, cigs will getcha in the end. Or make your life really less enjoyable.

Well, I'll let it go sooner or later , as the others say. At least I have the hope.
I don't think that nicotine increases the craving for alcohol. Know people with years and years of sobriety still smoking. Also know people who managed to give it up soon after giving up alcohol.

Walk out the door and go to McDonalds on a given day. Lots of pain being medicated
If you are going to commit to yourself to stop drinking poison, why not make the commitment to stop inhaling poison at the same time?
Nicotine is deadly. The sooner you quit smoking the better.
Interesting I've found though in the amount of things killing you others than stimulants though . Tip of the iceberg the poison avoidance to those things to (coping mechanisms) does to a human soul as you carry on in a status Quo sort of way of dealing with your inner life:(
