Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
However with alcohol it was 3 hours at a stretch at the most followed by 3 hours of trying to get back to sleep and 1 hour of fitful snoozing
I have just been throuhg home detox (involving librium equivalent right enough) and been alcohol free for 12 days and have had sleeps of 7 -12 hours ever since with littel disturbance
I used to try and stay in bed in the mornings to delay starting drinking but I gave that up to and was at it first thing in the morning
I have concluded that sleep is a form of avoidance not a treatment/solution avoidance
I would suggest reading "Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle for the kind of meditation that best replaces booze.
Fore the sake of treatment....I cant see it working to not drink unless one is on meds to help sleep, then that could open another can of worms....
