Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
i never thought of it as a treatment.
a lot my sleeping patterns are depression related.
i guess sleep is the safest escape though.
A.A. outside of rehab can't do this for us or watch over us like in a rehab or hospital.
I only listen to old war stories nothing much happens in meettings where I am and alot of other meetings I have been to are the same. Some can't live without it.
I was taught healthy sleeping habbits and it made the world of difference for me and 69 other guys in rehab. In bed befor 10 p.m. and up at 6 a.m. for 7 months to 10 months.
When sleep is used to escape from life then it is not going to work.
My opinion only.

Often, when I've been in some kind of really bad pain I've wished I could go into a temporary coma but I knew when I came out of it I'd still have to deal with whatever was bothering me.
I did find after I stopped drinking totaly that I eventually had better sleep.
I can't stand sleep aids they stay with me to long the next day so I try to avoid them. I am talking just equate sleeping pills over the counter at wally world.
Post from Doug, everyone's friend, owner etc.
"Tell us about your personal experience with as a treatment: Has it worked? Have you had any issues? Any recommendations or tips? "
Don't get me wrong. I love this site, but they don't have to do this. To cover my bases, if Doug actually asked that question. My bad, but if he had trouble with alcohol he would know it was a stupid question. Alcoholics get drunk, SLEEP it off and repeat.
What I remember from Detox, you don't sleep. Just shaking, sweating, feeling like crap. Not much sleeping.
If I'm wrong, Doug can set me right and I will eat crow.
