For the longest time I told my husband he had a drinking problem, we have a daughter who is 15 now, the times we went out for dinner, I would not drink as I watched how much he drank. I don't know when it started but now I drink with him. She said, you never drank too much with daddy at dinner cuz you'd watch out for me, now you drink with him as you don't have to watch out/care for me. A while ago I had too much to drink in front of my daughter, she was heartbroken and told me I was getting like daddy and she did not like it. I told her she would never see me like that again, which she has not. But she now tells me not to drink cause it makes her uncomfortable ( she may be nervous it will get out of hand?) I do anyway as I want to show her I can be responsible. My dad was a really bad dunk, I mean falling down drunk, which my husband and I are not. I do enjoy drinking, I am Italian and are used to having wine with dinner, I can have one glass a night and no more. My daughter told me today that she just found out that her friends left our cape house a day early after the 4th of July because we were drunk. I am sick to my stomach!! I do not want my daughter to lose respect for me, but I'm afraid that the damage is done. I can only learn from her words. Please help me make sense of this.
