HI there . i dont and have had a problem with drink at all but I look ater a epileptic friend who is and ex bindge drinker and he got him self out of it. H e did not have to go for any helf even fromany profesionals. mY REASON FOR PUTTING THIS UP HERE IS IN THE HOPEW THAT IT WILL GIVE ALOT OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO OTHERS WITH ANY DRIK PROBLEM. And to hear from any one who once had it but got them selves out of it. Im not and at present dont need to be a memmber of this drink group but please add me as a friend.TThis and all groups should not just be for people afected by what even it is but family and friends of thease people too.Think about it THey may need suport or some thing to help cope. My brother has been sober for I think 32 years now and does not maintain sobriety through the program of AA BUT and this is a big BUT he got sober by developing and maintaining a LIVING relationship with God - his higher power and just so happens to be my higher power and the igher power of millions, if not billions, of others.
A true addict, of any kind, does not recover from self-will alone. It's a lovely thought, but not possible.
I and thousands upon thousands of others are proof of that.

Binge drinking is dangerous orbie, and some people do self-recover from it. Binge Drinking is something many alcoholics experience, and it is also a form of alcohol abuse by non-alcoholics. For Alcoholics though, it's not that simple to self-recover without help, and further guidance and support is needed. It's great to hear your friend was able to get himself out of it, and thank you for your encouragement to the group. Not sure if you've come across it, but there is a Binge Drinking group here at DS as well. It's a bit inactive at the moment, but it has got some members there still active here at DS. (link below). Well, I'm and 'old timer' with a hard line stance on recovery, and I have never seen anyone really recover on his/her own. People may put a cork into the bottle, but that is only the beginning of recovery. Alcohoism is a multi-faceted illness, and I've not seen anyone make the long haul without the village's help.
