Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
A sponsor who becomes an ex-sponsor can still be a friend and someone you turn to for assistance.
You need to think about yourself in this. If your sponsor is working HER program, she would understand your need to get through the steps ASAP.
Lots of luck, Ashley! ;-)

I was appointed a sponsor in the beginning. All good except as the time came to take the steps Jerry really was not Interested in Helping me with that. So I kept my eyes open for another sponsor. Leonard blew into town And after a little bit i got up the courage to as k him. Very willing to take me through steps and school me in other AA activities.

"Hi. How are you? Hey listen. I have been thinking a lot lately and have decided that, while you have helped me tremendously to get through the first couple months of my sobriety, I have decided that I need someone who is able to spend more time with me. This is not a reflection of you. I respect and care for you, but I need something a little different. You taught me that my own sobriety has to take priority over everything else, so I hope that you can understand where I am coming from. I'd like if we still remain friends."
If she tries to persuade you in any way to reconsider...
"I have already made my decision. I need to do this."
That's sorta how it went with my first sponsor. She understood right away and didn't even question it.
Good luck. Don't let it go on too long. You deserve the time you need.
Your sponsor has a life to and may not be able to dedicate full time. Ya gotta get that straightened out.
My sponsor was full blown AA, but he made it very clear that it was to take me through the steps of AA> NOTHING ELSE.
