Robin Williams Killed Himself

I'm shocked and don't know what to say.

I wonder if addiction was involved.

Looks like he was in a 12 step rehab 2 months prior to this.

In many ways, not really surprised. Being from his era (Vietnam), and myself also, it just seems like after witnessing and experiencing so much in life, where does one turn? Where do we go?

I am deeply saddened by his demise. I feel like I knew him on a personal level.

Yes!! to encourage himm...Recovery aint always neat and tidy even if you dont use..Im sure he had a personal therapist as well...12 step is only the form as a buddhist would say, not the entire approach one must see their way thru:))

I also have problems other than alcohol, but I needed to get sober before I could work on any other issue.

Depression can be so devastating but is treatable. Suicide is such a permanent solution.

Robin Williams also suffered from Bipolar disorder and had been in a deep depression. In this case it may have been a combo of addiction and mental illness. I know a lot of bipolars self medicate when there meds don't work right or stop working all together. It has hit the bp board hard. He was a hero to many of us =(

The news that Robin Williams died has hit me hard. He was so loved by people all over the world. I wish he had told someone what he was considering. His family is so wonderful - Thank Heaven they have each other.

People that suffer from bi-polar are most vulnerable when they are in what is called a mixed state. Whether Robin suffered from bi-polar or not or used substances or not does not detract from the sadness I feel. To say his death is a wholesale indictment of Hazelton or 12 step programs is as disingenuous as holding up Audrey Kushline as a complete dismissal of Moderation Management.
