which can do wonderful , loving things for me that I can't do for myself. I see that glorious power at work in my own being, and i see the miraculous results of this same power in the lives of thousands upon thousands of others recovering people who are my friends. Do i need the grace of god and the loving understanding of my friends any less now than when I had begun My recovery?

I also suffer serious mental illness and the trajectory of those illnesses, as well as horrific mis-prescription from psychitarists prescribing for greed on their part, lead to massive tragedy in my life, life losses and near death. As a result, my Spiritulaity has been lost to me.
I had a sponsor in the last 12 months who wouldn't respect my position (ie. The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking). She kept pushing her brand of spirituality down my throat. I talked this all through with her a number of times, but she wouldn't stop, and along with a whole lot of other issues, I separated from her. I go to meetings where she attends and our relationship is now good.
I would brand myself as a Secular Humanist these days and I am fine with that. In some ways I probably life a more "spiritual life" than many other people. I am as honest with myself as I can possibly be, as well as with others. I work really hard on AA, psychiatry and psychology. I go out into the world seeing how I can be of service to others.
But I still definitely have an open mind to spirituality coming back into my life. Jesus is a case in point. I don't believe in his divinity, but I do believe in his Love and his Teachings. I will continue to keep the door open to any form of spirituality.
