The program is of inestimable value for those of us, formerly addicted, who wants to know ourselves and who are courageous enough to seek growth through self- examination and self-improvement. If I remain honest open-minded and willing. the program will enable me to rid myself of self-deceptive attitudes and character flaws that for so long prevented me from growing into the kind of person I want to be. Do I try help others understand The program and twelve steps? Do I carry the message by example?

I sure do attempt to carry the message that is outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous....... However I am a work in progress and everything in this world is open for individual interpretation, and sometimes when I take a second, third, or even more looks at my beliefs or interpretation of something I can see where my character defects are glaring and my arrogance is rearing it's ignorant head. I must remind myself it is progress not perfection and I must be willing to set matters right and make amends as promptly as I become aware amends need to be made or I will surely progress in the opposite direction than I desire to go. I do not want my disease of denial to become more prevalent than my ability to find the humility to accept the truth about myself. the more I practice this genuine humility the better I feel about myself even if I am struggling with a persistent character defect. The freedom to live in the truth today is invigorating and brings more joy and more freedom each time I accept it.
The promises do come true for me me daily as I live these principles and more is revealed in proportion to my ability to deal in a healthy manner with it.

Are you and soberpreacher reading the same things? lol! I just commented on his post about striving to be kind to every person that I encounter and here it is again....hmmmmmm....good reminder for me to read this morning cause I'm going to spend some time with my sister who I sometimes don't agree with. hee hee..

With the things I am learning from the steps & my sponsor, I am sharing with my mother and sister and my daughter, they are not in recovery...but they've all said the basic principles help them as well. "do unto others..."
