Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Might be a good idea to give those drinking buddies a wide birth for some time Leading a healthy life in every way possible will help his chances
Dont know if you have checked out Al-anon online They have face to face meetings to. Its for people like you who have partners in recovery checkit out
Just my exp. after going 4 times it didn't help and didn't get sober until I got done, hope his story is different. You won't get him sober only he can.
I would suggest to you Al Anon.
Coming back from rehab, your husband is only at the beginning of the recovery journey. Some can handle it alone without any support mechanism but that is not the method that works for most alcoholics. For most people it is necessary to make use of some sort of support such as AA meetings if they are going to avoid relapsing. Very often the spouses of such people may benefit from Al-Anon meetings.
Your husband would probably have been introduced to the AA Twelve Step programme at rehab and that is where he will find a solution to handling stress and the other problems that life will throw up. With the aid of such a programme he can live life to the full without being constantly worried that he will drink again. I believe that Al-Anon use their own version of the same programme but not all spouses of alcoholics embrace the Al-Anon message and that is understandable.
Any tips on how to cope with life and stay focused? There are probably some tips but you would be better posing the question on some of the D.S. boards that are for the families of alcoholics. The best tip I can give is for your husband to go to AA meetings and make use of what is available there.
