Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
And distractions.
Meetings, phone calls, and chats help. Seeing other people get sober helps.
It ain't my HP keeping me sober yet. It isn't the steps.
I honestly feel like the beast is breathing down my neck. I just keep walking fast hoping I get some relief before the fuckits hit. I am trying to just do the next right thing, and no matter what, DON'T DRINK.
25 days down.
I also try to stay off the pit pot, but that has been hard with losing my life partner.
I also try to get into service. That is one of the reasons i picked up this second committment. the group came to me and asked me and I told them I did not have the six months and said that they felt for some reason I needed this committment and they felt they needed me to do it. It was eerie, cause usually oldtimers take the postition at that meeting.
Also, getting outside with my dog really centers me. My god is out there. He is the snowy egrets along the bay, he is the leaves that fall from the trees, he is the adoration in the look I get from Molly when we finally ready to get out of the car.
He is also the one who does not let me forget that I am just a day away from being a drunk.
I ask my HP for guidance, I do the next right thing, I make amends as necessary, I treat others as I like to be treated (if not, then more amends haha), I help other recovering alcoholics, I share my ESH and I try to be hospitable to all who enter my life.
If I get resentments, I also work on those so they do not manifest and grow.
At night, I always say my gratitudes and the first one is always thank you for a sober day.
