Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

So, to start off, I used to drink a lot, pretty much habitually. Lots of hard alcohol may I add. Well, I havent drank like that in awhile and Friday night I did. It was fun, but not worth it at all. I woke up the next morning in what they call a Hypoglycemic State. I was sweating profusely from head to toe (no exaggeration), my heart was racing unbelievably, i could neither sit at the side of the bed nor walk. My mom and dad were about to leave for their vacation 10 minutes later but I called my mom in saying I did not feel right at all and told her what was going on. She called 911 and they sent me to the ER in the stretcher. My blood sugar was 57 when I got there, and before I came I had drank 2 glasses of orange juice, so you can just imagine how low it was to start with. Also, I was going into Hypothermia which is a warning sign of Hypoglycemia, but I would have never known due to all the sweating and feeling hot. That feeling soon changed. This was due to the consumption of too much alcohol. May I also add that I am not a diabetic, something I never knew I could go into. I came home, and rested the day away. I figured I should share this with you all for those who don't understand the effects of alcohol, because neither did I.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Being a nurses aide, you're in a line of work I hold dear to my heart. Spent a while at hospital undergoing chemo and I'm grateful for the nurses care and support. Take care of yourself SO you can be one of those special angels in this fellowship of life helping others to heal.
Hopefully you are not an alcoholic nor will you be planning to drink to that extent again. You don't say.
Thanks for the information.
I am thankful I stopped drinking before they decided I am diabetic...alcohol becomes pure sugars in the blood stream which to me now are poison....I never need to drink again thanks to AA my HP and friends who care about me.....
hugs bill
the next thing is a bleeding in your esophagus adding fear to your life again......unless you chose to keep the plug in the jug
My first rehab, I had got caught drinking at work so to save my job off I went. It looked too easy to stop drinking (so I thought) and I was not ready. You all were alcoholics, not me! I stayed sober 6 months and picked up New Years Eve 1996/97.
By May, I was in a wheelchair..34 years old..After a 3 or 4 day binge locked in my house because I had a fight with my boyfriend or something or someone pissed me off.
I get up take a shower & driver over to my parents ..I start to feel dizzy...sweating and want to pull over. That's the last thing I remember..I passed out, crossed the road & hit a tree head on.
The floor board came up and crushed my legs & feet. I scalped my head on something (steering wheel..rearview mirror). Helicoptered to trauma center..
Lots after that....I had 18 operations on my legs and feet (Thank God they saved them & me).
I'm full of rods& screws and disabled for life. Had to learn to walk again.
Anyway, I still drank for 8 more years. Drove drunk with 1 eye closed & my wheelchair in the back of the car..
I had to go through everything I went through in order to get to where I am now.
God wasn't ready for me then, wasn't my time to get sober.
I now believe he saved me to help my parents die comfortbly.Which I got to take care of each of them till they passed.
and....to help another alcoholic.....
That's it...in a nut shell :)
Yet another example of where this mix of physical allergy, mental obsession and spiritual malady can take a person.
Yet you recovered with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous.
If this is not a story of hope that recovery can be found no matter how bad it gets, I don't know what is.
I'm still being treated for arthritis, damage to my spine, etc....
All with no pain meds....So far....I swim daily, get injections, ride bike , etc.....
When we drink excessively we really are poisoning ourselves. I've known that intellectually for years, but either it didn't sink in or didn't matter for a long time.
Tilly, sounds like you might have been hypoglycemic when you had your car crash?
Thanks for sharing this -- it is good to know.
You'll want it when you want it..Hope it's not too late! You're young and have your whole life in front of you. Sure could save yourself a lot of misery.
But you won't listen till you need to...
God Bless & Good luck!
I thank you again for sharing. Its a great reminder to those of us who are trying to stay sober on a daily basis.
