Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I joined this group and read just a few posts before coming across staggering levels of lack of support from some of those of you fortunate enough to have kicked the booze.......well done with your efforts......perhaps spare a thought for those who are still struggling to get there......you know what they say......if you can't say any thing nice, don't say anything at all.......some of the people on here asking for support are not axe murderers or other vile types....they suffer (WITH OUT BOOZE) from depression, anxiety, PTSD, have been abused......etc etc etc.......if this is a club for sober alcoholics to abuse folk still drinking I don't know if I wanna be part of it

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

What did get me sober were people "mean" enough to tell the truth about this disease. Then those same people offered me support by showing me the way to long term sobriey. If those people had been "nice" and not said anything on order to protect my delicate sensibilities, I would probably be still drunk or dead.
My not so "nice" sponsor once told me "The truth may hurt your feelings, but alcohol will kill you - take your pick."
I do not know which one you are referring to....however,,,, I will admit, there are a few responses I gave in the past, that I wish I had answered with a little more compassion.
I would like to share with you, this beautiful Prayer from St Francis:
Lord, make me an instrument
of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred,
let me sow charity;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light; and Where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying to ourselves that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
May you find Peace, Love, and Happiness.
God Bless
Hopefully you are doing well tonight. CryBaby.
I’ve never heard this rigorous honesty thing, is it like brutal honesty or tough love? I wonder why people have to be so forceful with their honesty, doesn’t honesty speak for itself, or does it require a little push?
or is it the rigorous honesty giver who feels, because of our limited time on this planet, that they need to emphasize their point, that speaking open and honestly by itself isn’t enough?
please help me understand your point Jeff, and feel free to speak rigously if necessary.
However, I can speak to "rigorous honesty". The dictionary definition of "rigorous" is "extremely thorough, exhaustive or accurate."
It has nothing to do with brutality or "tough love". That honesty is directed toward oneself for the purpose of conducting a "searching and fearless moral inventory" as suggested by AA.
However some individuals are so firmly entrenched in denial that any suggestion of honest, thorough, and rigorous evaluation of their situation is deemed to be unsupportive, mean or vile.
Small single digit doses are worthless! I have blood work on Hydroxy 25. Mine was 27, the range of vitamin (hydroxyl 25) D3 is 30-100. After taking 6,000 iu D3 and eating very well prepared meals. My next blood work came back at 53. WOW 53? I figured taking over 6,000 iu D3 should of been 80 or more.
We have been dumbed for so so so so long, Nobody even bothers to look up vitamins and minerals. Good luck in your making time and research what is the MOST important minerals created by God.

Some brutal honesty for you - go peddle your shit elsewhere - you have been reported.
Rigorous honesty is a part of AA, and it’s funny that you mention jerry McGuire - as the man the movie was made about is a fellow sober member of the family.
