Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
My uncle is also a drinker and his youngest daughter battles with alcoholism. My uncle is a functioning drinker (can't say he'san alkie as I really don't know) but my cousin on the other hand - is somewhat a functioning alcoholic, but heading down hill very fast - and we've all reached out to help her - but she's just not ready.
I am not saying in all cases that it's enviroment or that it's genetic but in my case and in my family - the genes are soooo strong - I truly believe this.
What the biggest thing for me was is accepting the fact that I have an addiction disease and when i learned about the disease of addiction and the personality of addiction - things really started falling into place.

"These people, often referred to as alcoholics, have not learned how to deal with life on a day-to-day basis without the assistance of their best friend, alcohol"
You could start a thread on that one sentence Billy. There was a lot of learning to do, and the steps helped give me a kickstart and the tools to continue my learning experience in life.
