Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

hey,
i just quit cold turkey on wednesday and my dr gave me meds to help out with the withdrawal. what i really want to know is i am definately not ready for AA. i dont know why i just am not. what about online AA. can anyone tell me about that or if it is just as good to use that as going to a meeting in person?
i just know myself and i am not ready to do that meeting thing in person. it was difficult enough facing my dr even though i admit i am an alcoholic and i am quitting. my family is now being supportive and i have finally admitted my alcoholism to friends and they are supportive.
thanks
always

Have you ever read a book that made you want to travel somewhere? (And if so, did you ever actually travel there?)

I hope you'll give primary purpose chat a try!
Its what we call a progressive disease.
Dianna, You've already had your ass kicked over and over again. Do you really want to get back in the ring with Mike Tyson?
Today, thanks to AA, I can't honestly say I've ever wondered if I might be able to drink normally. By the time I sobered up, I had lost all euphoric recall of alcohol. All that was left was the misery left in it's wake.
I have an idea. Why don't you ask your husband and kids what they think of you having "1" drink?
Big congrats on 4 years BTW!!
There is also www.intherooms.com that have tons of online meetings
In recovery anything is possible
To me, online meetings are way too time consuming. Have to have f2f, there is no other way!
i've learned so much about myself in a very short amount of time. staying away from drinking has actually been easy for me. i have not gotten a strong urge yet. i dont care to drink. i feel that my bigger issues are with my alcoholic personality. and i feel that by working the steps, going to meetings, and working with my sponsor, it will vastly improve things and help me change the things i want to change.
There appears to be a number of meetings at the above link. I'm not sure whether or not it is sponsored by AA - but it looks quite organized and seems to follow the manner in which meetings, etc., are handled.
Good luck.
