Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I use to think 1-2 a week was good. I have been hitting upwards of 3 meetings a day.
Go sober, listen, contribute(im still working on this).
I am on day one too. but i kept going to meetings, and they are getting better and better. I actually take something a way with me from every damn meeting no matter how small.
Listen, don't pick it apart, I am a master at picking things apart and looking what is wrong instead of what is right.
Good luck
I am gonna make a post next you might relate to.
Best
I never thought I would be the type of drinker that developed 'wet brain' but there is no doubt it is happening.
I forget things all the time. Names of people I see every day, appointments, phone #'s..etc etc... Its scary.
I am looking forward to a clearer brain. The mental fog lifting will be a great bonus to my life.
A little thing like dying never scared me much - but I do hope this scares you. The survival rate for Esophageal Cancer is very low. If you want to live you need to get sober.
Good luck,
Please also come back here as you are an alcoholic like every person in the group, you are one of use and you have the opportunity to embrace a life of recovery. Post multiple times a day if it helps you. There are also other alcholoism related groups on this site so poke around and look for them too - you'll gain even more exposure to alcoholism recovery stories, wisdom and support.
WELCOME HOME.
Peace!
Karen
It's great that you have the foresight to recognize all you have to lose by continuing to drink. Having great reasons to stop will hopefully keep you motivated on your journey to quitting. Sending positive thoughts your way!
