In my opinion 30 days (1 month) would be about right.

Depends on the topic. I think for newbies, some info should stay up or be able to be accessed easily. The day to day conversations could be 30 days. But for instancem when there is a great conversation about how to handle the early days or relapses etc, it might be good to have them available for longer.

I think they stay up as long as people show an interest in the topic.

looks like they go back about 6 months. why should they have to fall off after a certain amount of time? I think that if DS has a system that works, then don't change it.
I sometimes go back and read old posts, and sometimes there is information in there that helps.

If you go on Yahoo answers forum, they give participants 3-7 days to respond to a topic before they close it out for new answers. That way people can move on to a new topic faster. However, I think that's a bit soon for some topics. To me 15 days sounds fair as we have so many posts on a daily basis but that's just me. Whatever everybody else thinks is just fine.

I think it depends on the subject.

Like, if they RE pull AnneL's post about losing her dog AGAIN :) when it's over and done with and she's moved on, maybe posts like those should be taken down.


Or when someone's children were killed a year ago, someone pulled that one up about a month ago and although I didn't ask her how she felt, I would have been sick if it were MY memorys I hopefully, have moved on from.

After 30 days, if noone has posted on a discussion, it's a wrap.

Many times some of the same questions or concerns come up anyways as new comers join.
