I have no idea. When I'm not home, I don't want to chat with people who aren't actually there. Hell, I'm 35 and I refuse a cell phone. If I'm home then that's fine and if not you can leave a message. I don't get it either. Real people, real time.

Yeah, I got my first cell a little over a year ago.
It was a necessity. I don't have a landline.
I think it is ridiculously expensive.
I'd go back to a landline in a heartbeat.

Well, I got an i-phone last month. It has a key pad like just like your computer keyboard, but yeah, the letters are tiny.

I have found some value in dropping someone a quick note without getting into a lengthly phone converstion. Like "I just left" or "What should I bring for dinner?". It saves time. That's a whole lot different than the kids who have entire conversations using texting. If I have to reply back more than 2 or 3 times, then it deserves a phone call!

My texting is pretty much like Jackers. I've had a few nieces and nephews stay with me and I've had to confiscate two mobiles. My nephew just sat there texting whilst I was talking to him. Well, he had a manner lesson that night I can tell you.

I refuse to text. period

My 13 year old nephew was dropped at a gathering (party) of other people his age. They all walked into the same room and began texting each other. Never mind conversation. How socially retarded is that?

I hate to go against the grain here, but I do text my kids back and also have to text for work. It serves its purpose.

All that said, a phone call beats a text message any day!

You're not against the grain. There's a time and a place for texting, and I've grown to appreciate it.

Katiebug, texting pisses me off. I hate it! My daughter will send me 5 in a row and I will call her and she won't answer and it infuriates me. It's okay if you want to ask "what toppings would you like on your pizza" but it is NOT for conversations. I hate that! Why not just call if you have a story to tell???? I don't get it either!

I can't stand texting and never do it or answer them. My daughter is big on it and can text without looking at the keypad or her phone period. Blows me away.

Julie do you ever call her after she's texted some long ass story and she won't answer? That infuriates me to no end cause she must have her phone or how did she text?? I hate it, if you can't answer yes or no, then make the call. Now, I type 100 words per minutes so if my phone were the size of my keyboard I wouldn't mind it so much! :)

Yeah Shelly, I do call her and no answer. Highly annoying. Other then for safety reasons, I really wish there were no cell phones period. I really miss having an old fashioned telephone that rings in the house only. Cell phones period get on my nerves (for various reasons).
