Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Looking like that's what you're both doing. Hope you chose sobriety it's less painful.
:)
These are both tough habits to kick..just keep supporting each other in spite of the occasional failures.
I say try this...help your bf by showing him your strength. Share with him how your mind is feeling, then share with him that you want this sobriety for yourself and your health, and that he could try to think along those lines.
What's the saying...2 wrongs, don't make a right. And for sure in this case you would come out on bottom.
Stay strong!
I will agree with you on this. It sounds really dumb. Why would you want to go back to killing yourself with alcohol just because a bf smoked. With thinking like that you will have much difficulty maintaining your sobriety. If I drank everytime somebody else did something I would be back to my old ways by now. Get a grip, his smoking habit is his problem, your drinking is yours and yours alone. ARe you working any kind of program? If you make conditions like "I will drink if this happens or that happens," you will make it so. If you have chosen sobriety, then there is no reason ever to drink. Unless the old way of life was pleasing. I know my life wasnt
Resentment & jelousy is a killer.
Its now several hours since he went to work and i wrote this.
Im so glad i have this place, how stupid would it have been to do it.
I thankfully kept busy and did some paperwork on a project. I feel more calm about the situation, and im serious about wanting to be sober. Its just so dumb that I was using that as logic.
Twisted, and yet even now Im thinking hmm, maybe bah.
Im gonna choose the lesser evil, jump into my pj's and order a pizza and some chips - better fat than drunk.
And yes, I will tip the Pizza Boy :P
For your partner by him a book called the easy way to stop smoking by Alan Carr. Give it to him as a gift and tell him you love him. Tell him to read the book sllowly reviewing often and follow the instructions in it. Good Luck to both of you and remember whether he smoke or not has nothing to do with your drinking. You are seriously going to drink yourself to an early grave just to show him are you?
He had a really big work thing, and to be fair when i slipped 2 weeks ago he didnt smoke.
He really was giving up the smoking at my request as he knows i detest it. And he did it in support of my sobriety to show me he was going through this with me.
So i guess if he screwed up a bit, i of all people understand.
And, I woke up this morning feeling FABULOUS
