Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I think I need to call my boss at work.....
what do I say? Do I admitt to have a problem with drinking, say the word alcoholic?
Or should I just apologize and see if I still have a job?
what should I say, I am so nervous.....
There have been too many times I have gone to work worried if I would have my job. It didn't really make too much sense because I rarely missed work and I was never late. But the times I did....I felt so guilty...so bloody guilty...
I say don't call and walk into work totally sober and just see what happens.
My experience has been that nothing happened.
Nothing at all....
More than likely your boss already knows you have a problem. If you go the treatment way you will probably need to talk to him/her. The meeting way maybe not but if you need 15 minutes extra for lunch for a meeting maybe so.
When you are at home alone and feeling restless get on here. Chat or message back and forth with individuals. Try not to be offering advice as much as reading what others especially those with sobriety have to say.
Go to this website and listen to different speakers talk about thier journeythrough alcoholism and recovery.

Main thing don't pick up a drink no matter what. When your ass is falling off come and chat with us or call the people from your meetings or go to a meeting. This is the glue that will hold it on.
P.S It would be easier to help if we knew a little more about you like your real age. Do you live small town or city. Are you living with other active drunks etc.
You have made an honest statement and asked for help. that's a great beginning. Now just continue to be honest, keep an open mind and be willing to go to any length to not drink.
Good Luck God Bless
well the manager called and left me a message asking me to please come in...I never called her back....now, I know I need to call her and I am so stressed out...I was late last weekend, both days...
I just need to call and I am freaking out...I can not go in and let her see that I am fine....i called in sick...
I know it will be okay, I just need to talk to her, and the phone seems so heavy.....she will be leaving at 4 today too...I need to do this and dont know what to say????
I guess just that I am sorry and it wont happen again??
I am 30 years old, I live in a city, louisville, kinda smaller scale though...
I am a server, I think I need to change jobs all together but I have been doing this for about 10 years....so no office experience makes it a little harder to switch...
what else...I have been drinking since I was 13 or 14....the past 3-4 years it has interfered with my life maybe longer....
the past year i have been trying to stop and been unsuccessful....the longer I went was 30 days....
Thats me....
Call your manager and stop putting it off. Just have a nice, frank discussion. If you want to keep the job, then let the manager know that you want to keep it. It's sometimes hard for them to find new help anyway.
I'm going to repeat myself from the last time I responded to one of your posts: I think that you are bored and lonely right now, and you use alcohol as a way to connect with people. When you are sober, you seem to hide in your apartment - that makes sobriety a real drag, because you're not able to be with people.
You need to go out with some groups of sober people and hang out. That might mean AA (for social reasons if nothing else). Go to a church - they have singles groups, join a gym with an aerobics class -you'll meet others this way. You are young and single and you need something fun to do, that does not involve drinking. Sorry to repeat that.
Again- don't put off this phone call- things may not be as bad as you think they are.
Therse is life and fun after alcohol and your relationships and friendships will become so much better as you learn and grow in sobriety.
As for your occupation you're right that occupation seems to be a magnet for people with drinking problems but don't do anything rash.
The fact that you live in a city means there are meetings morning noon after work and evenings. Get a schedule and start going to lots of different ones until you find what you need and hear what you need to hear.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see
Ashely, I was a server way back when and it is really not a great job to be in if you are trying to get sober. In my experience-people work hard and party harder all together after the shift is done. Sure you can pass on this-but you are young, single and on the fence so why do this to yourself. I know damn well from your posts you are quite smart, and unless you plan on getting drunk 24/7 you can land another job to sustain yourself.
Oh, all this aside, don't worry about anyone but you getting SOBER! Everything else will fall into place when this happens-and the right people will enter, stay, or leave your life.
