Funny how the statement are you willing enough is so resented. I've seen alot people come and especially the first week or so they are so willing but just as soon as they start feeling better the smaller that willingness gets to be. When they say I don't feel good about doing this or going there you tell them not to. It does not matter who's what is going on where. Does not matter. Friends, family and or husband all have to come second to our sobriety it we are to have one. Alot of us are brought up that family is everything. That there are things that you just can't help. You do it because it is suppose to be. I say that "Some of us have tried to hold on to out old ideas and the result was nil untill we let go absolutely." If I've relasped I might would look at the suggestions I was not willing to take. I LOVE YOU ANNA!!!!!

We are a family, right? I remember Jim sharing with Rummy that his post sometimes, if not many times hurt lots of people. That is true. Rummy, that is true. Now Anna, do you want to join Rummy in making it more difficult for the rest of us or do you want to join the group who wants to find happiness in other ways of being and loving?

Don't minimize this when when you sober up, but at the same time don't wallow in the guilt or you'll just feel so shitty that you want to keep hiding out in that bottle. Retrace your steps and figure out where you made the wrong turns (thinking and actions) and try to learn from that.

Thanks for sharing the truth, this site would be useless if people only posted feel-good butterfly and puppy dog thoughts all the time.

No, I'm not going to bash you, you're doing enough of it yourself and there's a few bashers in this thread too.

But I will be serious. People die from alcoholism. Every day. You know about the concepts around sobriety and I assume you have been to AA. That is where I got sober nearly 11 years ago.

I have seen SO MANY people die from this diesease, in my family, people in AA who did what you are doing, people who never got to AA as well.

This isn't a little "episode" you are having here. This is a nail in your coffin if you don't "pull yourself up by the bootsraps", get to an AA meeting as soon as you can, do what is suggested and save your life. This is serious shit you are dealing with and I genuinely hope that you DO get sober and stay sober. You may not feel like it at the moment, but you deserve a sober life.

It's just not about all that 'you don't want it enough' nonsense. It's about when are you gonna do what it takes to get sober??

The choice to begin the process of recovering is the only one you have to make because as alcoholics we can never rely on our own power to stay sober so making your mind up to stay sober for Christmas was not the thing that would make that happen.

Surrender to the fact that you are powerless over alcohol and get on with the steps, that is what will make the difference to you.

Can't imagine getting drunk,sitting at a computer,logging into a sober sight and telling people I'm drunk.

Just keep trying over and over till you get there! EVERYONE is different. It took me 3 years and it finally happened. I went to rehab, it helped me. And do tell everyone, alot already know it usually.

Anna, Getting sober is one thing, staying sober takes effort. You want to help people, but first you need to expend that energy on helping yourself. You've been fortunate to be graced with a sponsor. It's up to you now Anna. No one here can keep you sober. We can support you in your efforts, but ultimately you are responsible for your sobriety.

Yep, focusing on others as a guise of helping them kept me from looking at the mess my own life had become. If I looked at the truth, I might have to own some unhealthy behavior and take action on it if I truly wanted my life to change. The truth really did set me free.

We are a passionate, caring bunch. In order to truly care for my fellow man, there were some tough suggestions I had to become willing to take.
