I went to a morning meeting today...one I had gone to befor and always liked. It is an OD meeting and the people who stand up and speak always seem so inspirational...I am thinking after today that there are a lot of court ordered people who attend..But the "old timers" always seem to be speeaking to us that are new, and/or just "preching". I like it a lot.
Any how the meeting was really good, I as I sat there I told myself I would go up and ask for a list of the girls phone numbers. Well I did, forced myself not to run out. Well, I asked the one guy for a list of the women, i was mumbling and he thought I needed a court ordered note, and started writting it...I felt a little stupid because he told me they didnt have one, that I had to ask them for it. OMG, I started crying out of no where, lol....but he was soo nice and said he crying all time too, lol...anyways a woman comes up and says she will be my sponser. I said yes and she walked me out and we talked breiflly, and she gave me her number and saidto call her after reading the doctors opion...
It kind of wierd, I dont know her at all, but Im going to go with it for now and see how it goes...
What do you all think? Is that okay to have a sponser I dont know?

One thing I've been told repeatedly is that if we don't like the sponsor we've chosen, we are free to fire them - that they won't be offended. So try her out and hopefully she'll be the one to help guide you, if not, you'll never have to go through a '1st sponsor experience' again!

sorry no photo as yet. I think having a sponsor is a great idea, its so good to to share on a day to day basis the difficulities that arise each day and also to work through the steps with just that one person openly an honestly. you doing great. I have been sober one day at a time now in new zealand for 10yrs and I willin gto help anytime you want to chat. thats what I love doing most in my life is helping and recieving help also. Keep going take direction and listen. This could the start of something great!
You stepped out of your comfort zone and this is going to have miraculous changes in your life. Call your new sponsor. Don't hesitate no matter what the issue. You are helping her just as much as she's helping you!
