Looking for answers

Im hoping I am in the right place. Im looking for answer from those of you who have experience. I am currently engaged, well I say we are still engaged, to a man who is an alcoholic. In the past couple of months he has been very combative and just mean. Saying mean things to me, insulting me, the way I dress, I have no drive or ambition... on and on. We have not spoken since Monday. He refuses to accept my kisses and my love. I think he thinks we are broken up, but I dont know. I am trying real hard to give him space. What I want to know is this... is it the alcohol talking? What do I do? My heart is breaking and I cant stand the pain.

diemjs, I didn't contribute to the discussion but did feel I cared that you made the right decision for yourself in this. Sorry, but not really surprised, to hear the guy is still drinking and defending it.

I am glad you are feeling more resolved and less confused about the action you need to take. I am also glad you were able to help that unhappy little girl when she needed a friend and a safe place to be.

Why don't you go to alanon which is for the family and friends of alcoholics. Why you would want to stick around is beyond me, he continue to behave that way unless he sctually gets sobe r which doesn't sound likely. Get out while you can and before you get pregnant with his baby becaus that would fix nothing and just tie you to him even more.
