jimc, sorry, I don't know of a group, but I can tell you of a technique a friend uses. He asked an bunch of girls to do cheers for him and he recorded it, mixed it and put it into a loop. Every day when he does his exercises, he plays the recording. he also does it when doing anything challenging. The second half of the technique is a t-shrt he wears that reads: I'M PROUD OF MYSELF AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS!

He wears that shirt as a reward for a difficult task completed, especially one that he doubted he'd be able to complete. Maybe you can adapt this to your specific needs.

I know of such a group but, quite frankly, we're not lowering our standards to accommodate new members at this time. However, we'll be happy to keep your application on file as long as you submit an essay on "Why I deserve to be in this group."

I guess I'll just keep combing the groups for what I'm looking for. As much as I like the support group on alcoholism, there's just too much going on. Not to say I won't hang around to take abuse from people I've never met *coughnemorinocough*.

I skip the recording and just have a band of gorgeous people following me around singing my praises.

So that's what I'm doing wrong. My group follows me around pointing and jeering.

It ought to boost your self esteem some just knowing you are not as sick as some of the folks on this site.

I think one of the main threads in being a alcoholic is the lack of self-esteem. Its more than just stop drinking in my experience.

The program I work with is about self-esteem and self- worth. One of the key factors is working with affirmations. There are many books out there dealing with different issues. When I would get into one of those modes of self doubt. They would help me through.

I don't know about a group you are looking for. But its here and other support groups to get support. I am here to build myself up. And to hang with people who are taking care of themselves. Leave the rest.

I also dont know of any group.

My sponsor told me I could improve my self-esteem, self respect and self worth by doing esteemable, respectable and worth things. Damn if she wasn't right.
