Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I was in a pretty good spot last night and then I drive past this little small bottle shop that is around the corner and last night they had a bunch of people outside to sit in the tables and listening to live music. The small voice in my head says that looks like fun. I have not had a drink in years and KNOW that if I have one then I will want more but the jealous emotion is strong sometimes with romanticize the act of just sitting and drinking. Also I have really come to realize I don't have any friends... I do but they are old school friends and I just don't hang out anymore.
oh well I just need to vent sometimes. I don't ever want to do the first year over again. It was the toughest but every once in a awhile I get the itch.
Onward and upward

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I think the internet has helped me to see friendships a little differently because I know now that I have less than ten friends who really are friends....and my acquaintances list has grown huge...so on that I will say some of my friends are family members.....which some people broke those relations with drinking....I am fortunate.....
I have a nephew whose life is burned to the ground and his brother's life was destroyed by mental illness which both of them seem to need me in their life....one calls really when he needs to just talk or listen....I have been there and I do not know how to steer him to building friendships because of his inability to expand these types of relationships....his mental health is stable somewhat but he smokes legal pot now in MO because it helps his back pain that plagues him....
You are welcomed to come here and vent anytime! We just love to see you!
Not through the groups as much as individuals I’ve met and have the confidence to pursue a relationship.
Hiking partners mostly and it’s amazing to see how men do tend to insulate.
For me it’s been learning how to be my own best friend so that I have something to share. Real health is a labor of love:)
I am able to attend parties, be around it and sometimes even fix my wife a drink with no problem. I’m grateful that I can look at it as a think others do to unwind, It’s not not in the cards for me, so I grab something fun I like to drink (expensive root beer) :)
It’s great you are expressing this, your definitely not alone having these thoughts.

The real miracle was Saturday my daughter got in trouble at a friends house and I was sober to deal with it. The dad at the place they were having a party in the basement was totally trashed and yelling and making a total as out of himself. So I’m glad THAT wasn’t me. And my daughter later confided in me the guy is an alcoholic. Wow. Just a few away from ashole at any moment. Gotta stay happy with sober. That’s the real test to staying sober.
Peace
