Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Your right, there is no one way that guarantee's sobriety. I have 12 years clean and sober. I can go into a bar setting and have no compulsion to drink. I do not think I could of handled this at year one. Each of us is very different. The test of your plan is if you can have yummy food, good people who may or may not be drinking and fun and then come home sober. If not, rearrange your plan until one of the combinations works for you. Till then keep on trying, Rome was not conquered in a single day. Eric

I believe 90 in 90 came from court orders in the USA, I am pretty sure I have never heard that suggested where I am (England).
BEST REGARDS, BE GENTLE WITH YOU BETH.
for me I tried about a hundred thousand times to do it on my own I would go a day or two.. or a yr and a half ... or two years... and eventually I would HAVE to drink again. It got to be like a pressure cooker that was going to blow. I had to drink again, It is my default. It is the way I cope. The way I celebrate. Drinking is what I do. I could not deal with life. I always thought that it was just the booze but it has taken me a year and a half of going to meetings every day to realize what it means that 'alcohol is merely a symptom'...
a symptom, I have a desire to do what I call ostrich syndrome. Put my head in the sand. I want to hide while the tiger of life eats my as up...I don't want to be me.
But this time around, I am working pretty hard at doing things I don't like or want to do , but things other ppl that have gotten sober suggest.. Pray, talk to others in recovery every day, and miraculously today I can halfway manage life.
I find that helping others helps me stay sober.
I pray for you to find good sobriety. Sober with a plan f ing rocks
