Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I got off work early tonight. I got my boyfriend a present for our 1 year anniversary and went to where he's staying to take it to him. He was drunk. He begged for a chance; said he would never drink again just yesterday morning. I threw the bag at him and said, "We're done" and got in my car and left. He followed after me yelling my name and I just kept driving. I feel sick. I was trying to quit smoking. But I just went and bought myself a pack of cigarettes. I just can't do it right now.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Sounds like he will need help to get sober and to stay sober. I had a counselor who once told me that it's almost impossible to stop without some kind of help.
I know I could never do it alone. I drove myself to the ER (drunk) and told them I was an alcoholic and needed help. After giving me some iv fluids to get my blood alcohol level down enough to admit me, I went into detox for 4 days and from there I went into a 3 week intensive outpatient program (iop) followed by counseling and then AA meetings. It took all of this to get me to where I am today, 8 years later where I have everything I need and I have never been happier.
The problem with alcohol and with any addiction is the poison becomes more important then anything or anybody...that is what is so sad about it.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
God Bless!
sorry you got more smokes....I quit in 1987 and am thankful for that....my health from smoking was failing....
I am sorry you are undergoing this heartbreaking time, but thankfully you are resolved and confident with your decision--and who could blame you?
I am proud of you for not lingering on the fence about this decision, but making a clean cut so fast. The longer one waits, the more likely he/she is to second guess the decision and return to an arrangement that leaves them broken-hearted once more.
I know this was very hard to do and you are still coping with the aftermath of heartbreak and betrayal. Find comfort and compassion from close friends and family.

Life isn't always all rosy. It's full of pain too. You will get through this. you could also try Al-Anon. They are a support group for people that are dealing with alcoholics in their lives.
As an alcoholic myself I can relate to this very well. When we say that were quiting, we can be very sincere, and damned well honest at the time of our convictions about quiting, but we often have no clue about the powerlessness we have concerning alcohol. I'm sure your boyfriend meant what he said at the time with all his heart, but he doesn't know how to fight his disease. We learn that in recovery. He may still try, and he may keep falling. Who knows. All you can do is pray for him, and take care of yourself. Life is hard, but try not to make it worse for yourself. Wish you all the best. James

He broke his promise after one day, so hopefully this time will be different.
