Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

3 to be exact and I've been sober the whole way through but I'm at that critical point again. I get strong urges to drink. Really strong and I usually am at the liquor store in no time. But if I keep that pattern up I won't get anywhere. So I'll try to get through this sober.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

It took me about 6 months before I really felt in control so yes, the first 2-3 months are very critical to point where every day you risk relapsing, But, if you take one of those tools you learned, out of your tool box and make use of it, then it can be a very strong deterrent, preventing a slip.
If you recognize what your triggers are then you can make a plan to deal with them. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask someone.
The problem I had, was that I would get a craving...but not think about the consequences of my actions so I was enabling myself, so to speak. Now, I "think" before I act!
