Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was in love with this alcoholic that I had been dating almost two years. I've always been there for him through everything to help him out. I stood by his side when he was recently in a 28 day inpatient program. He called me every day and our relationship seemed to really grow while he was in rehab. Although we weren't seeing each other, our phone conversations were just so amazing.
However, we he got back from rehab I was so nervous about my role and place in his life. I've tried to talk to him about it but he wanted nothing to do with having a conversation with me. After two weeks of being home, he was slowly disappearing on me. He wouldn't call me for days at a time and we didn't see each other as much. I think I could understand more if he was busy going to AA meetings, his counselor, church, etc... But two weeks out of rehab, he was making it out to bars with friends and had corona's in his fridge. He told me he wasn't drinking again... I'm not sure if I believe him.
Anyways, I did end this past Wednesday. He doesn't realize how this has affected me. While he was in rehab, I did everything for him. I took care of his condo, payed bills, ran errands, did his laundry... and maybe I'm being selfish, but I guess I thought he would have wanted to spend time with me or show his appreciation in some way... dinner, flowers, movie... etc. But, I got nothing. I even had a birthday and all I got was a post-it note in my wallet. This past Friday, he took another girl to the Blackhawks game and posted every picture of the two of them all over Facebook. If he didn't have feelings for me anymore, I could accept it if he could have just had a conversation with me letting me know that he is not that into me... instead of hurting me this way. When I told him how this has affected me and how I feel so broken, he rolled his eyes.
I wasn't disregarding the fact that he is dealing with life without alcohol. But, he still managed to go snowboarding with his buddies, out to dinner with friends, to superbowl parties... and I felt like I was just this worthless piece of shit. Anyways, after Friday and I found out he took another girl out... I sent him a message that literally ripped him a new one. I'm not going to deny it wasn't incredibly mean. And I did throw in his face everything and more that I have done for him and how he could do this to me. I just feel so lost and I just don't know how to get over this...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Maybe you should post in the breakups and divorce forum and a relationships forum, rather than the alcoholism forum. We deal with alcoholism here, not broken hearts.
If he is truly an alcoholic he'll be back to business as usual, so it would be a good bet to walk before he hurts you any more.
If he's not an alcoholic, then he's a jerk, so it would be a good bet to walk before he hurts you any more.

It is often said that love is blind and maybe that is true. You wont want to hear it but you are better off without this guy. Put it down to experience and move on to find someone more worthy of your love. If this is how he is going to behave you have had a lucky escape.
Remember though that you cannot buy someones love. Sure, you did many things for him but when you do something for another person it should not be with the expectation that there would be some sort of payback. Better to do something without expecting anything in return or that the other person owes you a favour.
You feel lost now and dont know how to get over it but Tempus Omnia Sanat, time heals all wounds.
