Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Good for you on the two days. Stay healthy, eat well, drink lots of water, all the usual comments.
On my last Detox I went cold turkey without any Atavan, or other drugs to help me through and prevent seizures. I had just had enough and woke up with the DT's, shaking, anxiety and all that.
I did not sleep for two days, sweating, no appetite, hallucinatory dreams and the rest. On the third day I started to feel a bit normal.
I do not think I have another detox in me. Going to meetings and taking it a day at a time.
Wish you all the best keep coming back and keeping us posted.
Having worked in a treatment center/psych hospital as an RN for 10 yrs, I encourage you to talk to your medical doctor. If you've been a daily drinker for quite a while, I stongly suggest detox with medical supervision. People die from detoxing from alcohol.
Not trying to scare you, just let you know how serious detoxing is. Have you taken your blood pressure lately at a pharmacy or had it taken by anyone? If it's high and your heartrate is high, please seek medical help. You mentioned heavy sweating and vision problems. These 2 symptoms concern me. That could indicate high bp. I'd like to see you sober but I'd like to see you survive more. Godspeed.
I totally agree with gr8ful !
I have also seen this happen to people. That's why I detoxed under medical supervision. Believe me, it can be really nasty. Book an appointment with your doctor. Best of luck. btw... you are a good Dad.
