Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Every so often I feel like having a drink and stories like yours really help me to make a decision not to take that drink.
Thank you.
Like you, she thought she could control it...again. She thought she could have two drinks and that was it. She couldn't and ended up having a horrendous week before Christmas (as did her other half).
She thinks she is on step 4. Me...I don't think she has step 1. I could see the drink coming; the stopping meetings; moving away from the little program she had; not doing the work (on step 4 with her sponsor for a long time) and the planning that led to that drink.
Can you see how yours came along?
I learn every day and it is in the learning that I progress forward.
Thank you for your share...a reminder that alcohol IS cunning, baffling and powerful.
Good for you - you stay stubborn and never give up. With big problems I think it's often the long-term haul (even with mistakes) that gets us there.
You can do it!
I kept a journal like that for awhile, just so that I could look at things in "black and white". But your two threads are much better.
Glad you're okay.

Welcome back. :)
Your post reminds me of my insanity with alcohol. I spent years trying to control something I'd lost control and all power over. I can't fight it. I had to accept and find a power greater than me to rely on to keep me from that first drink.
I go to meetings mainly to remind me of who I am. Your share helps too.
So do you have a sponsor? Did you talk to her?
