Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I too was good with not drinking for a little while now and I got so bad this past Saturday that I missed seeing my family for Easter Sunday. Not to mention I was interupting and telling everyone (strangers in my new town) that I was a youtube celebrity....and I was apparently making lude gestures at the bartender....I was SO humiliated to hear all this but I guess I can see how some people would just see the humor in it and move on.
The time before this past Saturday people, Valintines Day, people were playing quarters and I invaded their game and put the quarters in my mouth and tried to spit them in the cup...as if hat would be so very creative and amazing. Needless to say after that the game was quickly over. Ughh I'm too old to do these things but it happens and I'll try not to again. I'm sure the people that beared witness will forget eventually and if not, I'll just have to try and redeem myself next time by not being a total wreck and by laughing at myself. It happens. I think the trick is try to avoid making the same mistakes. And the fear of it being worse should keep it from happening again, I know I forget but it really could have been so much worse.
I can really understand your depression, shame and disappointment,
During these sober months I somewhat realized that the relapse actually helped me to live in the present, to know for sure that I cannot have alcohol in my system. I live day by day.
Mistakes we all make. They are good if we learn from them.
I wish you that the day comes soon when you no longer have the desire to drink. When you really desire to stop. I'm so lucky, my God took away my cravings. May take He away yours as well!
All the best!
