Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I started my AA journey on March 28th, because even though I had everything I said I ever wanted (beautiful family, career, all the "stuff" we need, etc etc etc) I was miserable. I cried at the drop of a dime, I felt like I had a huge gaping hole in the middle of me. Booze just wasnt working for me, and my attempts at sobriety werent working either. I needed a quantum change and I didnt want to hit any new lows before I got there. So I went to my first meeting. I've gone to one almost every day since and intend to continue down this path.
I now have light at the end of the tunnel, or actually *in* the tunnel:)
I stopped paying bills so I could continue to drink. The rent was always behind and I had collectors up my butt trying to get their money. Phone calls went unanswered and the mail got tossed aside unopened.
Restitution... total freedom. Monetarily, alcoholism cost me a fortune, but I paid a much higher price losing my soul. I have money in my pocket today (not much! lol), but self respect and the ability to laugh most of all. Can't beat that.
Life is grand today. Truly. I wouldn't change a damn thing.
I borrowed money from everyone all the time....
Man it feels good to not have to call utility companies every single month to beg for more time! I dreaded those phone calls so much!
I am extremely fortunate in that I didn't lose my family in my drinking, I recognize that and am completely grateful!
I can't even begin to imagine (and really don't want to know!) how much money I wasted over the years!!!!!
But I can tell you this, "my" liquor store that I frequented daily for about 5 years (only 5 cause it's near my job that I started in 2004...I drank much longer than that) but anyways, "my" liquor store is now out of business!!!!!! It's funny, but not really! D'OH!
I drive by it every day on my way to and from work and see the "for lease" sign in the window.....poor guys, I knew the guys who ran it of course and feel bad for putting them out of business! lol!
