Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have told myself a thousand times "This is the last day" or "I'm never drinking again". All I can do is keep trying. I try something a little different each time. This time I am on my knees praying morning and night that my obsession be removed among other things.
There really wasn't a "moment" for me. I just got sick of myself. This 17 days is the first time I am without a desire to drink. I can only hope and pray my obsession will not come back.

I know I had reached a stage of being sick a tired of being sick and tired .
It may have been the morning after the day before when I was released from the police station after being charge with my 7th DUI and I phoned my wife to tell her the look of utter disgust in her eyes as she came to pick me up.That look I had seen many times but this time it was different.
I had hit many rock bottoms this was one. I am so thankful that none of the rock bottoms had a trap door in them ,in so far as I didn't take a drink and come to with a wet brain or i didn't kill myself or some other innocent person
If I ever pick up another drink, today I am aware this could happen and I may fall straight through the trap door of another rock bottom. So that is one of the reasons I am thankful for and will fight for my sobriety.
So as I said for me I don't believe it was a single day but a combination of days.
God Bless...

I was only gonna have a couple of glasses of wine on Friday night. I drank the entire big fat bottle and then Saturday morning, I went to buy another to last me for the weekend. That one was gone plus a 3rd by noon on Saturday.
At least I think..I remember going to the store for the 3rd bottle and ...I got a wild hair and decided that I HAD to have a Bob Seger CD and I had to have it at that moment, so I drove to the store and bought it and then posted on here about how the words to "We've got Tonight" reminded me of my love affair with vodka! lol! But sad....
I think I thought I was deep and titled the thread "If booze could talk..." lol! I honestly was in one of those deep sad & dramatic moods.
I remember being in a chat room that night too....wow! That seems like a lifetime ago....
I guess the question is:
Do you want to stop drinking?
You will make that decision when life's lesson falls upon you. It will eventually happen. Hopefully you are in a place in your life where you can stop before it all goes to hell...
You don't deserve that. If you are not in a place to try AA, I hope you will try it.
Peace and ease
I woke up one morning with a hangover. But it felt like more than a hangover, I felt sick, really sick, and I realized, in no uncertain terms, that I was killing myself. And I decided to quit. It was not just my conscious mind saying, "OMG, I have to stop drinking!" It was a decision deep inside. After not drinking for a day, I tried to again, but I couldn't... it was too late. I just couldn't start drinking again.
do my prayers go unanswered? i think not.............i think there is a plan...............and it centers around my arrogance and dependency on something less..
i am stocking up on canned goods and soda...........'cause when it explodes in my face it will be tough.
i did think ahead and tied a life line to my remote.
hagn all and a blessed weekend
