Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
There's the old phrase of "one day at a time" and it really works. The idea is that you simply need to stay sober TODAY. Tomorrow - well you can worry about it when it comes. Staying sober is a daily commitment that you make to yourself. It's tough when you start, but it really does get easier. If you have no one to talk to, keep checking in on this site- there's lots of good advice.
Just know that alcohol will always beat you down, for some reason it always wins.
You can find a new way of life, and enjoy your new way of life.
You can enjoy your grandbabies and your own babies lives. You can be there for them, and show them how alcohol doesn't have to be a crutch for daily life. You can be an inspiration.
This site is a great place to get your stategy together. ~~JUMP ON~~
I get scared to go home after work, as l know the first thing i will do is pick up a drink!
Tonight l will try to do the Today thing, today i will be sober, but i really have to concentrate on that thought!
Im going to write a big not on my alchohol DONT DO IT !!!
And Yes Jacker Today i need to be sober,,, thats what im doing Today... So far , so good, i have missed my usual drink time at 4pm, its now 7.18 and im feeling good about it.
Im not going to have a drink .
Thank you all for being her... Thank you for not making me feel bad . You all gave me one common piece of advice, it was hope, and it was that l can do it, because you are doing it... none the comments were involving critisism,,, that was what i was scared of,,, someone telling me how bad i am for not being able to conquer this stupid craving
I hope you are doing well.
Kate
but im not going to have a drink today. thanks for asking , it is bit hard , but thats just also showing me im addicted, normal people dont crave , so l have a problem
I know it will be a LOOOONG trip for me. Lots of people will be asking me why I'm not drinking when I'm at social functions. I just have to tell them that I'm trying to get my body back into top shape, and alchohol doesn't fit into that for me anymore. When people quit smoking, they chew carrots, or gum to fill that void. We're addicted to alchohol...we need to replace it with something else. I'm not a church going person, and have my personal reasons for that and hope nobody judges me because I don't judge them, so after all is said and done, AA won't be anywhere I can go. But you and I can find out how strong we are INSIDE, and we can beat this, and by coming here, we can do it together!!
YOU CAN DO IT.
ALL THE BEST,
