Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I'm getting Seroquel...heard so much about it from my b/f...and others on this board and other boards...
I wonder why when I mentioned it to Dr. the other day he put me on Ambien instead (because Seroquel also addresses Major Depression). I have been diagnosed with Major Depression.
I don't get it..Ambien is addictive (also not great for alcoholics)...and some sort of bad drug and Seroquel is supposedly non-addictive...although if it worked for me I would be addicted regardless.
Next visit I am getting Seroquel.
Now, taking it sober, I'm able to get a good night's rest. I am going to try to taper off of it as I also take celexa at bedtime and that already makes me sleepy.
I took Ambien for awhile. Of course, at the time, I was drinking, so that might have caused my problems. I found that I would "sleepwalk." One morning I work up fully dressed and my bf at the time said I started spinning around dangerously and he put me in bed.
Another morning I woke up and found a skillet in the sink, so I obviously cooked something under the double influence. As there was an elderly (wife disabled) couple living beneath me, that scared me to DEATH, thinking "what if..." I quit the Ambien immediately.
Of course, meds affect everybody differently and definitely DO NOT mix sleeping pills with alcohol!
SOBER sleep = GREAT!
