I like hugs...but not all the time. Like sex...gotta be in the mood...lol.

And when I tell someone here I love them...I mean it. It's like a love of brothers and sisters. Like God's children loving eachother. Like we care so much, that the words come out, and it don't hurt and it feels good.

I have been out drinking again for about 3 years. It caught back up to me fast! The fun I was having while out there again was over way too quickly...darn it! lol.

No. Really, I am glad to be back today. I had 21 days, but lost my mind! And here I am...one day at a time. Whoot!!!

weather you are black, white, red or green, we have a commom bond on here and that is alcohol, we are one of a kind in that since. we hug because we relate, we hug cause we care..no one else will care for us and our problems like a fellow alcoholic. then we start getting to know each other and that common bond gets stronger..which turns into love and it is real, there isnt much i wouldnt do for some of my friends on here..when i first went to AA meetings i felt the love but i didnt wantto be hugged either, but after awhile that love grew to something i could relate too and it wasnt so bad after awhile..now i am one of the first ones to hug ppl..when i sit in a meeting, i can look across the room and feel the love by just looking at someone that looks back at me..eye contact and hugs are the greatest...every country has their own way of expressing this love, we hug, chinese bow, not real sure what ireland does, but we hug..i dont knock your country for letting men wear little plaid skirts do i?

The thing hugging and love you man does is get us out of our self and into feeling for other people. The big book says we are selfish and self centered people and our self will runs riot. I went to a convention at 6 months sober and my sponsor made me hug everyone i met the for three days. I hated it at first but after a while i got pretty comftorable with it. I must have hugged 600 - 700 people that week end and since then it is easy. Love is like a brother or sisterly love and i can say it because i share a deep common bond with every person whom suffers from this disease. Nothing wrong with your feelings hell there yours but i will say it sounds like you may be a bit insecure with you sobriety and not sure if your going to stick around so you dont want to get to close to these people. Just an opinion and please don take it wrong. God bless

Yep im know im abit late but better late than never lol In Oz we are in general less huggie (is that even a word :). People usually ask first and would rarerly , unsolisitedly hug a newcoming! I assume that a lot of your members have had sexual abuse issues too so being hugged by a stranger can really make um' run.
N.A is very very huggie. New men can be totally shocked as all the guys hug a lot!
just waffling on so i will say bye and enjoy ur mimimal hug meetings lol

for some of us-especially we women who have been molested,assaulted, raped, it is very difficult to trust the motives. i tend to run from the ones who i am not sure about and hug the ones that i've watched and grown to admire and trust through the years.shoot, i had one guy-most of been 90 and i thought he was safe but that old fool grabbed a handful of my ass and also unzipped my dress halfway.now, i tell him love ya but no hugs.for someone who has been violated before a hug can seem like a slap in the face when the other person is so aggressive. like once again- no say in the matter. love you all.devonh

That is so yuk! Unfortunatly a really high % of girls (and to a lesser extent guys) have had some awful things happen. I think the temptation to slap his face would have been to gr8 lol
