Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
There are some practical coping strategies that you can use to help you get through the first days and weeks. Drink lots of water. Eat good food but add sweets in the evenings if you are getting bad cravings. Exercise, such as walking, will help (the endorphins help reduce cravings.)
You might be not be able to sleep or feel very anxious. That's okay. It will pass -- get through it. You also might feel angry, exuberant, frightened or foggy. That's okay too. For me it was a swirl of emotions and I was out of sorts and unsure of myself for weeks.
Stay with it. We are here for you!
