Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I am close to quitting alcohol forever, but slipped a month ago and had to have wine, which tasted gross tbh.
Ok. Deep breath. I am in a hole right now that threatens my sobriety. We received notice that the state wants $32,000 in unemployment back from my husband, which ruins us for life. Additionally, my brother, who lives here and let alcohol take him, is now hospitalized with liver failure. I don't know how to deal with any of this. I want to throw my hands up and run away in a bottle as it seems so bleak that once again my life is a giant dumpster fire.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The money issue sucks too but, again, wasting money (on alcohol) because you’re worried about not having enough is ironic too. Or is it sardonic? Don’t remember.
Just pointing out that it wouldn’t help as I know you know.
My brain allowed me to accept that I will never drink again. I don’t know why. Maybe I was just done with that failing feeling that took me to a dark place. Once I quit drinking those feelings actually intensified because I wasn’t hiding anymore.
My life was still a mess.
Slowly putting a routine to my life that is based on health gives me peace now because I know that I’m doing the best I can.
Money has been tight through Covid, yet I’m still taking care of myself. A few years ago the IRS came after me for back taxes from a rough patch. If I had been drinking I would have avoided it. Instead, even though I was worried, I faced reality and contacted different state programs to help. Eventually I got in with the university law dept and they were very held in resolving. Having a positive sober attitude helped me.
You can face this too:)
God Bless
take care
