Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

What do you do when the want to drink hits all at once? I have been surprised at what triggers memories or regrets and how much that can make me want to drink. I'm struggling right now. These thoughts just consume my mind. I don't plan on drinking when I get home, but I can feel the painful thoughts corsing through my veins and Good Lord if I was going to drink, it would be today.
I've already prayed to get me through the next 8 or so hours sober and then let me get up in the morning to fight it again. Any other suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

"Acceptance"
"Letting Go and Letting God"
"Resentment"
"Guilt and Shame"

Good luck.
Many times you need to break your daily routine - humans are creatures of habit -
dont' drink - stay in the program of your choice
Peace!
No. It is really difficult, but it will pass. It will lighten up atleast a little by tommorow. And then a little bit more the next day.
Try this. It sounds so simple maybe-but for me it was a profound shift in nowing these bad feelings do not consume us and WILL pass.
I also strongly suggest a sponsor and the steps. That wont deal with the feelings and difficulty straight away but the sooner you do them the sooner the obsession to drink will be lifted.
