Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I remember having to be extra vigilant about keeping away from alcohol while I was still struggling with the mental obsession and starting my journey through the 12 Step programme. My sponsor cheered me with the thought that it would not always be that way. The day would come where the presence of alcohol would not bother me at all but that I needed to stay safe wile I did the work required to get that happy state of being. She also said that there were two criteria for me to meet in places where alcohol was served - that I had good reason to be there and to be in fit spiritual condition.
Alcohol is everywhere so I am grateful that I have a solution that keeps me safe and protected today. The good news is it is widely and freely available for those willing to seek it.
I am hosting a bbq and have invited a friend and her family from AA.
I think its a wonderful idea to have a sober "wingman" at a minimum.
I didnt last year, and was just fine. As long as I keep centered in my program, and keep doing all the things that keep me spiritually fit, I can go freely wherever my day takes me.
Happy 4th to all of you celebrating!
Stay safe and sober y'all.
