Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
No, you do not sound like your lecturing at all. I was once a sponcer in A.A, N.A. and S.A. but A.A., sadly, did not work for me. I am a part of the ten percent that is not saved by A.A.. Nor do you sound like a "dry drunk" for those of you who do not not what this is, a dry drunk is a person who has quit drinking but still goes through all the actions that led to drinking.
I think what your objecting to is that people who have dependent personalities tend to adopt A.A. as if it is a religion and not a method to cure alcoholism. "Their" way or the highway...
That is why I choose to remind everyone that the goal of A.A. is to quit, the how is more important so that others can do the same thereby, getting free! Eric
I'm not sure I understand how you became an AA sponsor if AA didn't work for you?

Just expressing my opinion. I know you don't lecture.....
But no - I would never criticize you on the board - not out loud. If I wanted to say something I'd send it in a pm. and besides - who am I to criticize?
I have found that when someone tries to push anything on me really hard, in a way they are insecure that what they have is not the end all and want to make sure it is. I feel like this happens with lots of things, like religion, lifestyle, marriage and kids (ever had a married friend go nuts at the thought of their non married friend actually being happy and having a life)?....
It is not about AA that they say this-it is an issue within themselves, and it sounds like it comes from a place of fear.
The comment is not the message of AA.
