my response, " sounds like your opinion to me. i refuse to b that rigid. and your opinion means absolutely nothing to me. some people need to worry more about their side of the street and less about others. when u make judgements about other people u ignore everything that AA means to me. and u sure dont sound very happy

I know that the Big Book itself does not claim any of what you mention here. In other words look at the message as well as the messenger and refer to source. Resentments and self-centredness are always bad news. Some get spiritually well and some do not or cannot.

i disagree, respectfully. i believe everyone can get the spirituality that the big book talks about. i believe everyone can b reached. its not something that i do. all i do is crack the door open and let a little light in. my HP and other people do the rest for me. i am truly powerless over my addictions. i am a hopeless drunken drug addict bass turd. for me its my faith in my HP and my faith that other people can help me do what i cant hope to do for myself. my 12step program is all the steps all the time. i am always on every step. i use to sit alone drunk at 2am(wife and kids asleep) begging God to fix me. never worked

i asked an AA friend once y i could not stop without the group and AA org.? he said "if u pick up one stick its easy to break. if u pick up a bunch of sticks its way harder to break.". my words: if that makes sense to u u r half way there...

I wouldnt like that either and I love AA.
I also havent had anyone say anything like that to me, before I was in AA, or to anyone that I've witnessed since. I guess it depends on the company you keep.

Some day maybe I'll understand how some people turn themselves completely over to a book that another human being wrote. I just couldn't do that and still be intellectually honest with myself.
I know it's a huge enlightenment for many, especially in the beginning when they are needing something so bad and are so vulnerable, But it just seems like bringing a bazooka to a knife fight. It'll get the job done, but may be overkill.
I've learned a lot from people in AA. I appreciate every word of wisdom. But I have also been really turned off by some of the hyper-dedicated folks who see things no other way
I no longer want booze in my life, but I don't have to throw out the baby with the bath water and surrender myself to a belief system. i wanted a better life, not a new soul.
